It’s been almost two weeks since Microsoft released its email service to the public. A large number of Hotmail, Live and MSN users have moved to the new webmail service and are enjoying its clean interface and neat features.

A strong password is essential to keep your email account safe online. And to keep your password effective, you need to change it often especially if you use public computers or share your PC with others.

We recommend you create a password consisting of letters, numbers, punctuation, and special characters. Also, make sure that you aren’t using the password that you use to protect other accounts.

If your account password is less than eight characters and doesn’t include numbers and special characters, complete the below-mentioned instructions to change your existing password of Outlook account.

  1. Open Outlook app or go to
  2. Move to the login screen.
  3. Click on the Forgot Password link.
  4. When asked why you cannot sign in, click on I forgot my password.
  5. Click on the Next button.
  6. Now, the Account Recovery window will open.
  7. Type your Outlook email account address.
  8. Type the Captcha code shown on the screen.
  9. Click on the Next button.
  10. Now you need to verify your identity.
  11. Select how you wish to get the password reset code.
  12. You can choose your backup email or text option.
  13. You may also select the I don’t have any of these options.
    1. In case you select the backup email account, then you will get the code via email.
    2. In case you have added your phone number for account recovery, you will get the code via text message.
    3. Users who have the MS Outlook application on their phones can use it for generating the code.
  14. If you select the I do not have any of this option, then you will have to answer a few questions for verifying your identity.
  15. Carefully type the code that you have received via text or email.
  16. Now, the password reset page will open.
  17. You need to type a new password. It should have at least eight characters.
  18. Re-enter the same password.
  19. Click on the Next button.

How to Change Forgotten Outlook 365 Password?

MS Outlook 365, similar to other popular email apps, offers an option to recover forgotten passwords. The process of changing the forgotten  MS Outlook 365 password is pretty basic. Users can manually do it within minutes. In order to change your Outlook 365 password, here is what you need to do.

  1. First, access Outlook.
  2. Now, you need to visit the Password reset page or window.
  3. Select the reason why you wish to change the account password. The options are listed on the screen.

  5. In the following prompt, you need to type your recovery email ID.
  6. Or else, type the recovery phone number.
  7. Enter the verification characters displayed on the screen.
  8. Now, click on the Next button.
  9. You will get the verification code through email messages or text.
  10. Check your inbox or phone, to find the code.
  11. Type the code on the screen and click on the Submit button.
  12. Enter the new password once the prompt comes.
  13. Retype the same password and click on OK.
